Implant Dentist in Rocklin, CA - Sumeet Kaur, DDS - Replace One or More Missing Teeth

At Rocklin Family Dentistry, we offer dental implant planning and restorations. If you have a missing tooth or multiple missing teeth, dental implants may be your best solution!

Dental implants are the leading choice for teeth restoration. They are permanent and offer an incredibly high success rate. According to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID): The number of people with implants grows by 500,000 each year, which means many people are experiencing the satisfaction that dental implants provide.

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and also provide a fixed solution to having removable partial or complete dentures.  Implants provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are artificial roots and teeth (usually titanium) that are surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bone by a dentist or Periodontist - a specialist of the gums and supporting bone.  The teeth attached to implants are very natural looking and often enhance or restore a patient’s smile!

Dental implants are strong and durable and will last many years.  On occasion, they will have to be re-tightened or replaced due to normal wear. Allow Sumeet Kaur, DDS to serve as your local Rocklin implant dentist and provide you with an aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional dentures.

What Are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

  • Dental Implants can replace single or multiple teeth without any alteration to adjacent teeth.
  • Resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space.
  • Dental implants can improve eating, speaking, and digestion ability, as well as strengthen the jaw bone and other facial muscles.
  • Your implants will look and feel like natural teeth and require no additional oral maintenance giving you a confident smile.
  • Dental implants can support full or partial dentures, making them more stable and comfortable.
  • Implants allow denture wearers to wear false teeth without the worry of them slipping out.

Since dental implants are fixed into the jaw bone, patients never have to worry about their teeth falling out. Your implants are also specifically designed to function naturally, meaning they require the same oral care as your existing teeth. Dental implants can last a lifetime and are proven to be the most effective teeth restoration method.

Dental Implant Process in Rocklin

Once Dr. Kaur determines that your jaw bone density is strong enough to support dental implants, she will create a unique treatment plan for you.

The process of getting implants requires a number of visits over several months. Dr. Kaur works with several specialists in the Rocklin area that are experts at placing dental implants. They will help you schedule your placement procedure, as well as thoroughly explain the integration and healing processes.

X-rays and impressions (molds) are taken of the jaw and teeth to determine bone, gum tissue, and spacing available for an implant.  While the area is numb, the implant will be surgically placed into the bone and allowed to heal and integrate itself for up to six months. Depending on the type of implant, a second surgery may be required in order to place the “post” that will hold the artificial tooth in place. With other implants, the post and anchor are already attached and placed at the same time.

After several weeks of healing the artificial teeth are made and fitted to the post portion of the anchor. Because several fittings may be required, this step may take one to two months to complete. After a healing period, the artificial teeth are securely attached to the implant, providing excellent stability and comfort to the patient.

During the healing process, the implant integrates with the jaw bone through a process called osseointegration. Once the implant becomes stable, Dr. Kaur will cap the implant with a permanent crown. The length of time to complete the dental implant process will vary depending on bone integrity, other procedures that may have been needed before implant placement, and how many teeth are being replaced.

You will receive care instructions when your treatment is completed. Good oral hygiene and eating habits, alongside regular dental visits, will aid in the life of your new implant.
